Mel or "Blondie"
 Mel or "Blondie"
Dad returned from overseas in late 1944 and was stationed at Norfolk, VA. Dad took leave to marry his girl "Blondie" (Mel) on January 4, 1945. On February 7, 1945 Dad was reassigned to Washington, DC where his new bride joined him a month later.

Before his discharge from military service in October 1945, Dad already knew that his young bride was expecting their first child.
