              | February 17, 1944 - Trying to
Quit Smoking Cigarettes and Thinking of Blondie
"...Truth is I've yet to start dinner but
while I'm waiting for the breakfast dishes to be washed I thought
a few lines to you would be a swell idea...For three days now I haven't
smoked a cigarette. Catch of it is-I'm using a pipe. Don't inhale
as much and trying to quit cigarettes entirely. Feel I shan't succeed
though cause I get envious each time I see another smoking and get
a whiff of his smoke. It's worth a try though and let's hope I can
do it. Costs money to smoke and I'm out for a million (dollars)...Blondie's
writing every day and I seem to be thinking more and more of her.
Time will tell. She is nice though and as things go she's still number
              one on the hit parade..."
