Final Thought

When Dad was transferred to Virginia in December 1942 after graduating from Cooks and Bakers School, he sent a post card to his mother letting her know of his transfer. In his short note, Dad expressed his hope that he would be home for the holidays. Dad was transferred to Boston, Massachusetts for further assignment on December 20, 1942.

While Dad was transferred to Boston during Christmas week, it appears that he was able to secure a holiday pass shortly after arriving in Boston. Dad was able to make it home for a few days around the holidays after all.
