December 1942

Transfer to Little Creek Amphibious Base, VA and Boston, MA

Immediately after graduating from Cooks and Bakers School, Dad was transferred to Little Creek Amphibious Base in Virginia. Dad sent a post card to his mother letting her know of this assignment and also expressed hope that he would be home for the holidays. His stay at the Little Creek Amphibious base was short as he was transferred to Boston, Massachusetts for further assignment on December 20, 1942.

Although Dad was transferred to Boston during Christmas week, it appears that he was able to secure a holiday pass shortly after arriving in Boston. Dad was then able to make it home for a few days around the holidays after all.
